Iran-US Technical Talks to Begin in Switzerland Sunday

Iran-US technical talks in Switzerland are set to begin Sunday, June 21, 2026, as Washington and Tehran move into the next phase of a mediation effort involving Pakistan and Qatar.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the discussions will take place in Bürgenstock and will include representatives from the United States and Iran, along with Pakistani and Qatari mediators.

Iran-US Technical Talks in Switzerland Follow Islamabad Deal

The meeting follows the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding earlier this week. The Bürgenstock session is expected to focus on technical issues and build on the understandings reached under that agreement.

Under the memorandum, the United States and Iran have 60 days to address unresolved matters, including the future of Iran’s nuclear program and the status of its enriched uranium stockpile.

Pakistan said it remains committed to facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran. Qatar is also expected to take part in the mediation process.

Witkoff and Kushner Arrive Ahead of Bürgenstock Meeting

US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are already in Switzerland ahead of the talks. Vice President JD Vance has indicated that he could join the negotiations in the coming days.

The meeting will be closely watched because it could show whether the Islamabad framework can produce progress on nuclear concerns and broader tensions between the United States and Iran. The talks do not guarantee a final agreement, but they mark a new diplomatic step involving regional mediators and a defined 60-day negotiating period.
