Iran says US demands hinder progress on 14-point peace plan

Iran reviews US response to peace proposal as tensions with Washington continue to shape the future of diplomacy and conflict in the region. In a recent press briefing, Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that it has received Washington’s reply to a 14-point peace proposal, but officials say the response includes demands that could complicate progress. The development highlights key areas such as peace negotiations, diplomatic efforts, and the ongoing conflict resolution process.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran is carefully studying the US response and will communicate its position through Pakistan mediation once a final decision is reached. He noted that certain demands from the United States appear excessive and unreasonable, making it harder for Iran to move forward with the peace proposal. Despite ongoing speculation, Baghaei clarified that discussions are not focused on nuclear talks or enrichment issues at this stage, emphasizing that Iran’s priority remains achieving a complete end to the war.

Iran has maintained that it is open to diplomacy but is equally prepared for renewed conflict if necessary. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi reinforced this stance, saying the responsibility now lies with the United States to choose between a diplomatic path or continued confrontation. He stressed that Iran’s approach is guided by its national interests and security concerns, signaling that Tehran will respond based on how Washington proceeds.

The situation reflects a fragile pause in hostilities, where both sides are assessing their next moves. While Iran continues to push for peace negotiations, unresolved tensions and differing expectations have kept the outcome uncertain. The coming days are expected to be critical as Iran finalizes its response and decides whether diplomacy can prevail over conflict.
