US–Israel–Iran War | Iran warns Israel over Beirut embassy threat amid rising military tensions
Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesperson for Iran’s Armed Forces, said Israel had threatened to target the Iranian embassy in Lebanon. He warned that if such an attack were carried out, Iranian forces would consider Israeli embassies around the world to be legitimate targets. The remarks signal Tehran’s readiness to escalate its response should its diplomatic presence come under direct attack.
Shekarchi stated that Israel had demonstrated few limits in its military operations and accused the country of pursuing aggressive actions in the region. Despite possessing what he described as significant military capabilities, he said Iran had so far respected international law and maintained restraint in its conduct. The Iranian official added that the country does not consider itself in conflict with most nations and maintains diplomatic relations globally based on engagement and cooperation.
The spokesperson also argued that targeting Iran’s embassy in Lebanon would constitute a violation of international norms governing diplomatic missions. According to Shekarchi, such an act would provide Tehran with what he described as a legitimate justification for a reciprocal military response. He further said Iran remains determined to confront Israel and its allies, asserting that the country would not retreat from its current strategic path.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military reported that it had completed a large-scale operation against what it described as a major Iranian military complex. According to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces on the social media platform X, the compound housed headquarters and units associated with multiple branches of Iran’s security apparatus.
The development underscores the deepening confrontation between Israel and Iran, which has increasingly unfolded through military operations, diplomatic warnings and regional security concerns. Analysts say the latest exchange of threats highlights the fragile security environment in West Asia and raises concerns about potential escalation that could impact diplomatic missions and regional stability.
