Prateek Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Son, Dies at 38 – Apolitical Legacy and Tributes

Prateek Yadav, the 38-year-old son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, passed away in Lucknow on May 13, 2026. Prateek, who had been struggling with lung-related issues for a long time, was undergoing treatment for a blood clot in his lungs. He was rushed to the hospital early in the morning but was unfortunately declared dead. The cause of death is yet to be confirmed, and a post-mortem is underway to determine the exact reason.

Despite being born into one of India's most prominent political families, Prateek Yadav stayed away from active politics. He was passionate about fitness and even owned a gym, ‘The Fitness Planet,’ in Lucknow. Prateek was also an advocate for animal welfare and ran an NGO, ‘Jeev Aashray,’ which provided treatment and care for homeless animals. His work with animals and his focus on fitness helped him carve out a different path from his family’s political legacy.

In addition to his business ventures, Prateek was a family man. He married Aparna Bisht, who later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Together, they had two children. Aparna Yadav, formerly Aparna Bisht, initially started her career in the Samajwadi Party but switched to the BJP in 2022.

Prateek's sudden death has left a deep impact on the Yadav family and those close to him. His wife, children, and loved ones are in mourning, and the political world, especially his father's legacy, is also reflecting on his life. Tributes have been pouring in from across the nation as people remember Prateek for his dedication to fitness, animals, and his quiet, apolitical life.
