Nara Rohith on 'Bhairava': A Mass Film Like Never Before – Exclusive Interview
How did Bhairava come to you?
Producer Bellamkonda Suresh sir called and shared the story. I trust his judgment. I saw the original film and liked it. The subject is universal, and we adapted it for the Telugu audience with new scenes.
How was your chemistry with the other two leads?
We’ve known each other personally for a long time. That comfort shows on screen. Director Vijay gave us clarity and freedom in our performances.
Are you planning back-to-back films now?
Yes, I took a break which went longer than expected. Now I’m back with Sundarakanda almost ready, and a new project starting in August.
How was it working with Manchu Manoj and Sai Sreenivas?
Manoj and I go back a long time. We bonded even more through this film. I know Sreenivas from 2010 when he used to practice dance. Working together brought us closer.
What’s Jayasudha’s role in the movie?
She plays the grandmother. Working with such a legendary actress was an honor.
How different is Bhairava for you?
Though I’ve done action films before, I’ve never done something so mass and commercial. It was a completely new and enjoyable experience.
What kind of changes were made for the Telugu version?
The storyline remains the same, but every scene has been rewritten to match Telugu nativity. It will feel more like an original Telugu film than a remake.
What about the female leads?
Every character in the movie, including the heroines, has importance. No character is insignificant.
Thoughts on Sri Charan’s music?
Sri Charan is known for strong background scores, but with Bhairava, he proved his strength in songs too. His BGM elevates the entire film.
Tell us about the producer Radha Mohan.
Radha Mohan garu is a committed producer. Managing three lead actors isn’t easy, but he didn’t compromise anywhere. I wish him great success.
How was your experience with director Vijay Kanakamedala?
He has a very clear vision. He knows exactly what he wants and how the edit will look even while shooting. This film will prove his ability as a commercial director.
Do you plan to produce more films?
I’m co-producing Sundarakanda with my cousins. If good scripts come along, I’ll definitely produce more.
Any plans for a sequel to Appatlo Okadundevadu?
We had that in mind and worked on it, but it didn’t materialize. Let’s see what the future holds.
Your favorite genre?
Everything except horror. Why pay money to get scared? (laughs)
Your favorite films from your career?
Solo, Rowdy Fellow, Baanam, Jo Achyutananda, and Appatlo Okadundevadu.
Have you watched Bhairava yet?
Not yet. I want to experience it with the audience on May 30.
All the best!
Thank you!
