Tehran warns of response if ceasefire violations continue in Gulf

Iran Sets Conditions for Further US Negotiations

Iran has stated that it is not yet prepared to move forward with a final agreement with the United States, emphasizing that key provisions of a recently signed 14-point Memorandum of Understanding must first be implemented. Senior Iranian officials indicated that only after these steps are fulfilled would comprehensive negotiations become possible, signaling a cautious and conditional approach to diplomatic engagement.

Tehran Warns of Response to Ceasefire Breaches

Iran’s Parliament Speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that Tehran would respond to any perceived violations of the current understanding that followed recent conflict developments. Speaking in a televised interview, he referred to incidents in the Persian Gulf, describing them as breaches of the ceasefire framework, while acknowledging that diplomatic channels remain open. He stressed that while Iran continues to prioritize dialogue, it is prepared to respond if agreements are not respected.

Diplomacy Continues Through Mediators in Doha

According to Iranian state-linked reporting, delegations from Iran and the United States were expected to engage in separate discussions in Doha through mediators to discuss implementation of the agreement. Iranian officials have maintained that direct talks with US representatives are not currently planned, with Qatar playing a central role in facilitating communication between both sides.

Qatar’s leadership has continued to support mediation efforts, with its foreign ministry reiterating commitment to stabilizing negotiations linked to the memorandum. The discussions come amid ongoing international attention on regional stability and the future of energy flows through strategic maritime routes.

Oil Exports and Economic Developments

Ghalibaf also highlighted developments in Iran’s oil exports, claiming a significant increase following the easing of a blockade on ports. He contrasted current export levels with a previous period in which shipments were halted entirely, framing the shift as an important economic milestone. Iranian officials have portrayed the change as evidence of resilience under pressure and an outcome of the recently established agreement framework.

Ongoing Strategic Uncertainty

Despite diplomatic engagement involving international mediators and senior officials from multiple countries, Iran has maintained that broader negotiations remain dependent on implementation progress. The situation reflects continued uncertainty in US-Iran relations, with both sides signaling a combination of diplomatic willingness and strategic caution as regional tensions persist.
