AI Takeover Looms: Report Predicts 50% Of Tech Support In India Will Be Handled By AI By 2027

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant threat it’s fast becoming an active part of India’s workforce. A recent Salesforce study warns that by 2027, AI could handle up to 50 percent of all tech support and customer service cases in the country. Currently managing around 30 percent, AI’s rapid expansion in the sector signals a major transformation in how companies handle customer interactions. The research suggests that while automation will replace repetitive roles, it will also open opportunities for employees to focus on complex, creative, and emotionally driven tasks.

The report highlights that Indian professionals working with AI already enjoy higher job satisfaction and improved career prospects compared to those who don’t use AI. Around 69 percent of AI-enabled service professionals say they feel confident about their career future, versus only 12 percent of non-AI users. Salesforce’s findings reveal that AI is now the second-highest priority for service leaders just behind improving customer experience leading to the rise of “agentic enterprises,” where AI and humans work side by side.

Despite optimism, the transition is not without challenges. Around half of India’s service leaders have expressed concerns over data security and reliability, which have slowed AI implementation. However, many also believe AI can strengthen cybersecurity and enhance team efficiency. The integration of multimodal AI capable of understanding text, voice, and images—shows how advanced the technology is becoming.

The report predicts a 16 percent increase in upsell revenue and faster onboarding for employees as AI adoption deepens. Industries like fintech, logistics, and e-commerce are already seeing these benefits firsthand. While concerns about job loss remain, experts say that the coming years will not mark the end of human roles but rather their evolution. With India at the forefront of the AI transformation, 2027 could mark a turning point in how technology and humanity coexist in the modern workplace.
