US–Israel–Iran War | US and Israel intensify strikes on Iran as regional tensions escalate

The United States and Israel have intensified military operations against Iran, with reports indicating that at least 1,045 people have been killed since the escalation began on Saturday. The strikes mark one of the most severe confrontations in the region in recent years, raising fears of a broader Middle East crisis. At the same time, Israeli forces have carried out additional military actions in Lebanon, further expanding the scope of the conflict and increasing concerns about regional stability.

In Washington, the US Senate signaled firm political backing for the ongoing military campaign. Lawmakers voted 53 to 47 against a resolution that sought to halt the airstrikes, effectively allowing the operations to continue under the administration of President Donald Trump. Supporters of the campaign argued that the strikes are necessary to counter perceived threats and maintain strategic pressure on Tehran. Critics, however, warned that sustained attacks could deepen the crisis and increase the risk of a wider regional confrontation.

Iran has responded with strong warnings about potential security threats along its borders. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that authorities are closely monitoring what he described as possible “terrorist movements” near the frontier with Iraq. The warning followed reports suggesting that the United States may be engaging with Kurdish forces in the region, potentially providing support that could encourage unrest against the Iranian government. Tehran has urged heightened vigilance and stronger border security measures to prevent instability.

The conflict has also begun to disrupt global energy markets. Cargo vessels have reportedly started avoiding the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps declared the waterway closed. The strait is one of the world’s most vital oil transit routes, and any prolonged disruption could significantly affect global oil and gas supplies. Analysts say the situation has already increased volatility in energy markets and heightened international concern about the stability of shipping lanes in the Gulf.

As military operations continue and diplomatic tensions rise, the evolving situation underscores the fragile balance of power across the Middle East and the growing economic and security implications of the escalating confrontation.
