Indian killed in Abu Dhabi by falling missile debris, another Pakistani dies

ABU DHABI — March 26, 2026 (Thursday):
An Indian national was among two people killed on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Abu Dhabi after debris from a missile interception struck the city. The second victim was a Pakistani citizen, while three others — including another Indian national and a Jordanian — were injured.

The incident occurred on Sweihan Street, where debris fell following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by UAE air defence systems. Emergency services responded swiftly, securing the area and providing immediate medical assistance to the injured.

UAE authorities stated that air defence units have been operating at heightened readiness since the escalation of hostilities, intercepting hundreds of incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles targeting the region.

The tragedy forms part of a broader wave of attacks across the UAE, including strikes aimed at critical energy infrastructure. Since the conflict began, the country has recorded a total of 11 war-related deaths, including personnel from its armed forces.

Officials reported that at least 166 people have been injured so far, with victims from more than 30 countries — underscoring the global impact of the ongoing Gulf conflict. Casualties have included nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine.

The UAE government strongly condemned the attacks, reaffirming that its air defence systems remain fully operational to safeguard civilians and key infrastructure.

Authorities continue to closely monitor the situation, ensuring that emergency response teams and healthcare services remain prepared for any further incidents. Residents have been advised to stay alert while continuing normal daily activities, with assurances that robust security measures are in place.
