Canada study permit financial checklist for Indians in 2027

This Canada study permit financial checklist for 2027 helps Indian students organize bank statements, tuition receipts, education loans, sponsor income, fixed deposits and a multi-year funding plan before submitting an application.

Confirm the applicable financial amount

Indian students must demonstrate enough money for tuition, living expenses and transportation without relying on work in Canada. The same requirement covers accompanying family members.

The current living-expense requirement for one student outside Quebec is C$22,895, excluding tuition and transportation. However, IRCC adjusts the amount annually on September 1, so students applying for 2027 must check the figure announced on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Prepare the main financial records

The financial file should include:

  • Recent bank statements
  • Tuition and housing payment receipts
  • Education-loan sanction and disbursement records
  • GIC confirmation, when used
  • Scholarship or institutional funding letters
  • Sponsor letters supported by evidence that the money is available

IRCC currently lists four months of bank statements, bank education loans, GICs, tuition-payment records and funding letters among acceptable forms of evidence.

Document parents and other sponsors

Students using parental support should provide records connecting the declared funds to the sponsor’s income and account history. Relevant evidence may include salary records, employment letters, income-tax returns, business-income documents and proof of relationship.

Large or recent transfers should be accompanied by documents showing their source, such as fixed-deposit maturity records, investment withdrawals, loan disbursements or property-sale documentation. The objective is to present a consistent and traceable financial history.

Show a complete study budget

Applicants should calculate tuition, first-year living expenses, flights, insurance, books, housing deposits and other initial costs. Students enrolled in programs lasting more than one year must show first-year financial support and explain how they intend to fund the remaining period.

Before filing, students should compare every figure across the application, support letter, bank records, loan documents and tuition receipts. They must also follow the personalized checklist generated by IRCC because required documents can vary by applicant.
