Extra Ordinary Man Review: Very Ordinary

Extra Ordinary Man Review: Very Ordinary
  • 11 Dec 2023 11:10 AM

Nithiin seemed very confident about his latest film, Extra Ordinary Man as he felt the film is a proper action comedy that has the commercial ingredients to make for a good viewing for all sections of the audience. Let us see if the film is able to match his expectations and also that of the viewers.

Story: Nithiin is seen as a junior artist who is always at the firing line of his father Rao Ramesh who thinks his son isn't in the right profession. After Rao Ramesh falls ill, the responsibility of running the family falls on Nithiin and he then takes up a regular job. Will he be able to blend into this new life? Or will his craving to be a hero backtrack and land him in further trouble?

How did the actors perform?

Nithiin is back to the commercial entertainment genre and he is in his element in this genre. He looks good as a junior artist and the comical scenes with Rao Ramesh work out well as the latter excels in the role of a frustrated father. Sree Leela gets a namesake character and there is nothing much to speak about the undercooked character.

What about the technical finesse?

The film is directed by Vakkantham Vamsi who is a famed writer but a struggling director. This is his second film after Naa Peru Surya of Allu Arjun. He has again faltered in delivering a winning film. Extra Ordinary is a very ordinary film that has more hiccups than bright moments.

Analysis:

As the title suggests, the film has an ordinary vibe from the start. The struggles of a junior artist and his frustrated father are alright to an extent when they are fresh but beyond a point, they turn repetitive.

The commercial entertainment track works out here and there with the comedy track catering to the B and C center audience. That is the only saving grace for the film in the mass circuits. But for the rest, it is a lacking film that fails in many aspects.

The songs are below par and so is the background score. The film has good making values. Nithiin was so confident about the film that he let his father Sudhakar Reddy produce it. But one can only wonder where his confidence stemmed from.

The closing portion is below par as the film ends on a very expected note. This takes a toll on the viewers as the whole vibe is dampened already and it gets to a point where we search for the exit doors.

Verdict: Extra Ordinary fails in so many aspects that it makes for a very ordinary viewing. There are a couple of comedy blocks that work out but they are outweighed by the beaten to death commercial scenes.

Rating: 2.25/5
