Trump Says Iran Still Has War Capacity
Trump Says Iran Conflict Is Moving Fast
US President Donald Trump said Friday, June 5th that his administration is “moving very fast” in its handling of the Iran conflict, while acknowledging that Tehran still retains part of its military capacity. Speaking about the war, now in its third month, Trump again compared the timeline with the Vietnam War and argued that the current campaign remains far shorter than past American military engagements.

Trump Claims Iran Still Has Missiles
“I’m into three months,” Trump said, while noting that Vietnam lasted many years. He said Iran still has drones and missiles, estimating that Tehran may have “21, 22 percent” of its missiles left. The comment marked a shift from earlier statements in which he suggested Iran’s war capacity had been severely damaged after US strikes on nuclear-related sites. In May, Trump had estimated Iran’s remaining missile stockpile at a lower level, while later claiming that key facilities had been “obliterated.”

US And Iran Remain Far From Deal
The latest remarks come as Washington and Tehran remain unable to finalize an agreement to end the conflict, despite proposals exchanged between both sides. US officials have said recent military action included strikes on Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites after Iranian one-way attack drones were intercepted near the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian military officials, meanwhile, claimed they had fired warning missiles near US destroyers in the Gulf of Oman, a claim rejected by the US military.

Tehran Says Talks Have Stalled
Iranian officials say negotiations have reached an impasse. Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, said the next move depends on Washington and suggested that progress could be possible if the United States releases frozen Iranian assets. He also warned that renewed US strikes would deepen the crisis.

The conflict has placed renewed pressure on Trump’s foreign policy approach, especially as his earlier timeline for a quick resolution has not materialized. While the administration maintains that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly weakened, Trump’s own comments suggest Tehran remains capable of continuing limited military action.
