The visit is expected to coincide with India’s chairship of the grouping, which will focus on resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability.
The ambassador highlighted that India’s leadership of BRICS in 2026 presents an opportunity to advance discussions on global governance reforms, counter-terrorism, trade, and investment. Both countries have maintained close coordination within the multilateral platform, reflecting shared priorities on key international issues.
In addition to multilateral engagement, bilateral exchanges remain active. Alipov noted that President Putin visited India in 2025, and preparations are underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a reciprocal visit to Russia later in 2026. Discussions are ongoing regarding the timing of the visit, which is part of an established annual summit mechanism designed to sustain momentum in the partnership.
